Center for Inquiry – Pittsburgh
This comes from a Secular.org action alert.
This will take place in the 7th Floor Auditorium of Alumni Hall at the University of Pittsburgh.
We want to get Senator Casey on the record regarding the so-called Free Speech Fairness Act, which would allow churches to get involved in partisan politics while benefiting from tax-exempt status on your dime. We need you to attend this town hall, get Senator Casey on the record, and urge him not to support this bill.
After you attend, please email our Senior Legislative Representative Sarah Levin at Sarah@secular.org to let us know how Senator Casey responded. We will use this information to follow up with his office here in Washington.
“I am a(n) atheist/humanist/secular/nonreligious and your constituent. For the past 60 years, the Johnson Amendment has prohibited nonprofit organizations, including religious organizations, to function like political action committees. Leaders in Congress and President Trump have made it a priority to repeal the Johnson Amendment. What is your position on the Johnson amendment?”
