Many say that we are now entering the ‘post-truth’ era. From fake news to outright lying by public figures, don’t facts count anymore? This talk will explore the surprisingly deep roots of our current dilemma and offer a few reasons to hope that those who care about truth can still fight back.
The Humanist League invites you to join us on Monday February 20 at 4:30pm in Margaret Morrison 103 for Lee McIntyre’s talk.
Lee McIntyre is a Research Fellow at the Center for Philosophy and History of Science at Boston University and an Instructor in Ethics at Harvard Extension School. He is the author of Respecting Truth: Willful Ignorance in the Internet Age, Dark Ages: The Case for a Science of Human Behavior, and Laws and Explanation in the Social Sciences: Defending a Science of Human Behavior
