Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are? Frans De Waal. The claims of what make us different from other animals (e.g., the ability to understand the past and future) have been eroded or disproven by the study of animal cognition. Based on research involving crows, dolphins, octopuses, parrots, sheep, wasps, bats, whales, chimpanzees and bonobos, De Waal opens our minds to the ideas that animal minds are far more intricate and complex than we have assumed.
The Carnegie Library system has 28 copies. The book is new in 2016 and the lowest price at Amazon is paperback at $13.05.
We read a previous book by De Waal, The Atheist and the Bonobo, in May 2014. A TED talk by De Waal that highlights this book is at https://www.ted.com/t… This one was also interesting: https://www.youtube.c…
