Welcome to CFI’s monthly lecture night series!
This month’s speaker is Stephen Hirtle, who serves as Chair of the Executive Board of FFRF. His talk will preview the upcoming Annual Meeting of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which will be held in Pittsburgh, October 7-9, 2016. FFRF is the largest freethought organization in the US with the goals to uphold the constitutional separation between religion and government and to support the views non-theists, (humanists, atheists, or freethinkers). In this talk, Stephen will talk about the recent battles, including several local issues, and their newest humanitarian initiative, Nonbelief Relief.
Stephen Hirtle is also a Professor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, where he directs the Spatial Information Research Group. In addition, he has had recent visiting positions at the University of Augsburg (Germany), the Technical University of Vienna, Molde College (Norway), and Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand).
