The Forest Unseen: A Year’s Watch in Nature. David George Haskell
The author, a biologist, picks one small plot of old growth forest in the hills of Tennessee and visits it almost daily for one year. I read the blog of a science writer who described this book as “the best science book I’ve ever read … it is flush with beautiful scientific observations rendered in achingly beautiful prose.” Best Book Award of the National Academies of Science in 2013 for the “exquisite portrait of nature’s universe, drawn from one tiny patch of forest” and a Pulitzer prize finalist for 2012.
The library has seven copies, and it is available at Amazon for as low $4.98 plus shipping.
