Highlights include getting up close and personal with some Moon rocks and meteorites, enabling students to examine a real piece of space. The event will include a presentation by Professor Patrick Huth of the Boyce Campus Science Department. Professor Huth, who has spent the last seven years teaching physics and astronomy at CCAC, worked at NASA for five years as an Aerospace Education Specialist.
The samples, provided on loan by the NASA Johnson Space Center, were collected during six of the Apollo space missions from 1969 to 1972. The lunar sample consists of six samples of lunar material (three soils and three rocks) and the meteorite sample contains six labeled meteorites.
