Please note this is a family friendly event; we have a great time every year. :)
Youghiogheny Outfitters, 226 Collinsburg Rd., West Newton, PA
Mid-day picnic at: Cedar Creek Park, Rostraver, PA
We meet at Yough Outfitters at 9:30 a.m. The trip is a leisurely float down the Youghiogheny River, about 4 total hours on the water. We stop halfway, between Smithton and West Newton at Cedar Creek Park, for our famous Louisiana-style shrimp boil picnic (or you can bring your own food). Cedar Creek Park is along the Allegheny Passage Bike Trail for those of you who want to park at one of the trailheads and bike to the picnic. You can rent bicycles at Trailside Treasures near the Boston Bridge in McKeesport (it’s about a 2 ½ hour ride each way; bike are $20 each).
2-person canoes or tandem kayaks are $43 each.
Single-person kayaks (sit-in or sit-on) are $26 each.
The shrimp boil is $12 adults/$8 children.
If you have your own boat, transport to the put-in is $12 per person; backrests for canoes are $4; additional child’s life vests for canoes are $3.
