I have thought, ever since Roniie Ray-gun signed a bill (introduced in the House by MY congressman at the time), declaring 1983 TheYear of the Buybull, that if they're going to do that kind of thing, they ought to declare the next year "The Year of the Kama Sutra." I even wrote Rep. Moorehead and told him so. He weas genuinely surprised that someone in his district would object to "...honoring The Good Book." I gave up on him, and didn't bother to write back and give him a list ofthe un-good parts of the book; I had already mentioned Hosea 13:16. It would have taken too much paper and postage, anyway.

This sort of bill is nothing but election year pandering, and a waste of taxpaer money...aside from being unconstitutional. Can you imagine the uproar if they passed a similar bill honoring the Book of Mormon or the Qu'ran? (Or however you spell it.) Or even the Talmud? All three, at the very least, treat women as property. (Well, so does Ricky InSanitorium....but then he looks and sounds like an alien from the very early days of "Dr. Who." IMO)

Two very important things need to be recognized here:

1) Rick is obviously a graduate of the David Barton School of 'mukin histry. After listening to the U-boob video I'm convinced that he graduated at the top of his class. The primary textbook used for his studies, as Bill Maher would say, was the Encyclopedia Moronica.

2) One should never argue or debate anything with a moron 'cause they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you senseless with moronacy.

3) Rick's success as a revisionist buffoon is, at least in some significant part, is due to the electorate that voted for him. His Wiki page offers this: "Over 100 posts in opposition to the bill were posted on his wall until they were deleted by the owner of his Facebook page[4]." Over 100? What the hell! That's it? 100? Scheez.

There's only one thing that can be done to rectify this blatant act of jackassery: get the asshole out of the business of guiding public policy and humiliate him to such a degree that there is simply no chance in hell that he'll ever regain this authority again. I know that this is easier said than done but one must, with all their might, try.

What an idiot.

I did not know that his father-in-law was a non-delusional. I previously had no opinion of his wife. I just went from neutral to negative.

And yeah, atheism is a religion like not collecting stamps is a hobby.

Makes perfect sense to me. When I was a small child we lived in a big old beachfront house, and on cold winter nights the fireplaces were the center of our lives, even though my dad was smart enough to know that most of the heat, was going straight up the chimneys instead of warming the rooms.

Also, I spent a great deal of every winter in a "croup tent," breathing steam, because I kept having asthma attacks and other "respiratory infections." (This was during WW2, before antibiotics.)

Finally, my doctor told my parents that we had to move away from the ocean; go where it was drier (Fallacy! If breathing steam helped, damp ocean air wasn't the cause.), or I was going to die. They just happened to find a relatively new house about 35 miles and a range of hills away from the beach, and we moved. Most of the breathing problems stopped. Period. I never spent another night in a "croup tent."

Obviously it was NOT because we were away from the ocean, but because the new house had what was then state of the art central (gas) heating. But nobody figured that out for years, not until we got a summer place at another beach, and I thrived there, too. (The one type of place where I breathe the easiest...and have for the past 60 years...is an indoor ice rink. Any ice rink. Cold, damp, wonderful!)

I would love to be able to ask Sam Harris, "What about cooking over charcoal?" Some of our neighbors make a real fetish out of that..."Gas barbecues are for sissies!" I can't tell the difference in the flavor of the food, myself, and cleaning a gas grill is a lot easier than disposing of the ashes, etc.

O, but I do love hickory (or maple-wood) smoked pork! Dang!

Sam is continuing to educate us.....
I guess though , my response only demonstrates why I am not in the 'believers' group , having difficulty with foreign concepts.......as much as I really LOVE my fireplace and fire right in my living room.....and sitting there on a cold day with home heat turned down , depending on admittedly inefficient heat of the fire ......my response is : Are those the facts?....and at least according to the single reference he cited and what appears logical , I guess those ARE the facts and the next step is
1. I change what I 'think' about fireplaces and
2. I begin the process to replace it with a gas burning device (that will kind of look similar) and
3. Spread the word of this new news about another polluting source and
4. Keep an eye open to possible data showing eg.,folks who live in homes heated by wood fire are at risk for health effects similar to second hand cigarette smoke .(more evidence...)

A similar analagy can be made when a bunch of folks are told that free will is illusory.........their 'resistance' is often vehement
