It’s time for our 4th annual Canoe Trip & Picnic. You can participate in
both the Canoe Trip and the Picnic, or just one of the two (either one)
as a stand alone event. For those who may prefer biking, there is also a bike trail running along the river that can be accessed
at Cedar Creek Park. It is part of
the bike trail that extends from Pittsburgh to Washington, DC.
The Canoe Trip
We will meet at Youghiougheny Outfitters in West
Newton at 9:00 and be transported upriver to the put-in at Smithton. We
will then paddle downriver to Cedar Creek Park for lunch (the Picnic),
after which we will continue on our journey down river back to West
Newton. Actual time on the river is about four hours. There is no real
whitewater and this is a gentle ride suitable for kids and elderly as
well as regular adults.

we will be pulling the canoes out to have our picnic. Cedar Creek Park is located one-quarter mile north of the I-70 interchange on State Route 51. Follow I-70 to Route 51 at Belle Vernon.
